THE ASSOCIATION of the M.C.A., and the Computer Science and Application Department of P.K.R. Arts College for Women, Gobichettipalayam, was recently inaugurated. The association was inaugurated by the Head of the Computer Science Department from PSG College of Arts and Science in Coimbatore, B. Murali. He outlined his views on Interdependency in Parallelism, by taking up a case study, and emphasised the need for efficient professionals in the IT sector. Mr. Murali stressed the need for creativity in every act performed as it sets them apart. He pointed out that marketing a project was as important as developing it. He also answered questions raised by students and some faculty members during the technical session. Earlier, the college Correspondent, P.R. Natarajan, presided, the Principal, Jagatha Lakshmanan welcomed, and G.S. Kausalya, HOD, Computer Science Department, thanked.
THE DEPARTMENT of Computer Science of Vellalar College for Women in Erode recently conducted a seminar, `Application of Image Processing and Neural Networks'. Inaugurating the seminar, the Principal of the Gogte Institute of Technology in Belgaum, D.H. Rao, provided useful insights into Neural Network, Architecture and Applications. As many as 135 participants from 17 colleges and students from the host college attended the seminar. The Secretary and Correspondent of the college, S.D. Chandrasekar, presided, the Principal, M. Lokanayagi lit the kuthuvilakku and the adviser of Vellalar Educational Institutions, K.P. Kandasamy, offered felicitations. The Principal of the Erode Arts College, M. Arthanari, delivered the valedictory address.
THE FIRST year programmes of B.E., B.Tech, B.Sc, M.Sc and MCA of Dr. Mahalingam College of Engineering and Technology, Pollachi, for 2004-05 were inaugurated on September 6. The president of QuEST, Bangalore, Aravind Melligeri, who was the chief guest, said that the college was one of the five institutions that had established partnership with QuEST. The Senior Deputy General Manager of L and T Infotech, Chennai, B. Ezhilan, insisted on developing communication skills, use of resources and on-time delivery relating to industry.
THE NATIONAL Cadet Corps (NCC) wing of Kovai Kalaimagal College of Arts and Science was inaugurated a few days ago. Lt. Col. Harpal Singh, Officer Commanding, 6 Tamil Nadu Med. Coy., Coimbatore, elucidated on NCC and its activities. About 300 students took part in the inaugural function.
