Miniratna status for NLC

NEW DELHI, SEPT. 10. The Government has declared Neyveli Lignite Corporation (NLC) as a `Miniratna'. This followed detailed examination of the financial and physical performance of the company. NLC has been continuously making profits since 1976-77 and has earned a post-tax profit of Rs. 819.20 crores, Rs. 1,148.40 crores and Rs. 1,143.51 crores during 2001-02, 2002-03 and 2003-04, respectively. The robust financial position of NLC merited it the status of Miniratna (category-I) enterprise. — Our Special Correspondent
