Award presented to artist

BELGAUM, SEPT. 12. A city-based forum for light music called "Impu" honoured well-known folklorist, Krishnaji Phadnis of Ramdurg, at a function here on Sunday.

He was presented with an award in memory of renowned folk poet, the late Hukkeri Balappa.

Presiding over the ceremony, retired district Judge Jinnadatt Desai took a dig at the cultural organisations in the district for neglecting the presence of highly talented artists for long. He deplored over the neglect of "gamaka" art form, which was stated be rich in this part of the State in the past.

Writer and artist Gopalkrishna P.Nayak of Hubli inaugurated the function and spoke on various aspects of music.

The award ceremony was followed by a "sugam sangeet" programme presented by Mr. Phadnis.
