THE Ministry of Tourism has asked the Ministry of Urban Development to expedite the allotment of land for construction of budget hotels.

Addressing a press conference here, the Minister for Tourism, Ms Renuka Choudhury, said that her Ministry has emphasised the need for providing land to private entrepreneurs so that budget hotels could come up well before the Commonwealth Games is hosted in the Capital.

In addition, her Ministry has also asked the Ministry of Surface Transport to provide road connectivity to world tourist sites and the Buddhist circuit. "We have also written to the 16 States through which the tourist circuit passes to take this up on a priority basis," Ms Choudhury said.

Meanwhile, the Minister is proceeding to Milan and Paris with an official delegation to attract more high-spending tourists from these countries to India.
