Back Truck, bus tyre output up

NEW DELHI: Truck and bus tyre production surged in July 2004 to 9.53 lakh units, reflecting a 3.14 per cent increase over 9.24 lakh units registered in June. The production level stood at 9.53 lakh units in July 2003.

This segment accounts for over 70 per cent of the turnover (in value terms) of the domestic tyre industry.

On the export front, truck tyre exports during July stood at 2.20 lakh units, against 1.85 lakh units in June. According to the data released by the Automotive Tyre Manufacturers' Association (ATMA), passenger car tyre production during July 2004 stood at 10.09 lakh units, against 8.65 lakh units in the same month the previous year. Production of light commercial vehicle tyres stood at 3.40 lakh units (2.92 lakh units).
