A genuine Nehruvian

Sir, — Harish Khare's article on P.N. Haksar (Sept. 16) was a fitting tribute to an eminent bureaucrat who declined the Padma Vibhusan. It will be naive to compare present-day politicians or bureaucrats with the ideals of Haksar, who discharged his duties with a vision to reform the nation and release the suppressed creative energies of Indians. Can we hope that another Haksar will emerge soon?
