Pawar wins Wimbledon

BANGALORE, SEPT. 20. Anand Pawar, National junior badminton champion, won the Wimbledon under-19 junior badminton championship that concluded at London on Sunday. According to a Badminton Association of India press release, Anand Pawar, defeated Scotland's Callum Menzies 15-4, 15-2 in the final.

Earlier in the semifinal, Anand defeated England's Andrew Ellis 15-6, 10-15, 15-2.

Meanwhile in the girls' section, India's Gayatri Vartak had to rest content with the runner-up tag as she lost the final to Scotland's Linda Sloan.
