Back AP Govt to organise tourism fests

MARKING the World Tourism Day on September 27, the State Tourism Department is organising a series of events throughout the State, beginning on Thursday.

Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, Ms J. Geeta Reddy, Minister for Tourism and Sugar, said this year's theme for celebration was `Sport and Tourism: Living forces for mutual understanding, culture and the development of society'.

Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, the Chief Minister, would inaugurate a boat cruise service Pattiseema to Papikondalu in West Godavari district on September 25. The service would cover a stretch of 80 km. Dr Reddy would also inaugurate cottages at Perantalapalli in the district.

During the five-day festivities, the Department would organise cycle rallies, tourism run, seminars and expos at various places.

In the State capital, the Tourism Day would be celebrated a day earlier keeping in view the Ganesh Nimajjanam on September 27.

The Department would also present awards of excellence for the best travel agent, best travel writer, tour operator, event manager, heritage hotel and restaurant.
