Back Cisco upbeat on 47 pc growth here

NETWORKING company Cisco Systems said it expects to maintain a 47 per cent growth rate in India this year, on the back of a strong momentum in the market.

"According to the last International Data Corporation (IDC) report, we grew 47 per cent year on year. This is almost double the market growth estimate. We expect the growth rate to continue for us," Mr Ranganath Salgame, President, India and SAARC, Cisco Systems (India), said on the sidelines of a conference here.

Mr Salgame said during the last quarter (Q4) of Cisco's financial year, the company had grown 100 per cent in India.

The company has implemented a four-pronged strategy to tap the growth opportunities in India. "We have announced four vertical business unit such as service provider, Government and defence, IT services, and enterprise and small and medium businesses. The second part of our strategy is organisation for this growth which involved appointment of senior management team and scaling operations significantly," he said.

Cisco also announced a new line of integrated services routers aimed at delivering secure, wire-speed data, voice, video and other services for enterprise and small and medium sized businesses.

The company claims that Cisco 1800 series, Cisco 2800 series and Cisco 3800 series integrated services routers offer benefits of a truly converged network.
