`Endowment lands to be reclaimed'

TIRUPATI, SEPT. 22. The Endowments Minister, M.Satyanarayana Rao, has reiterated the Government's resolve to reclaim the Endowment lands, valued at several crores of rupees, from the possession of `outsiders' and grabbers.

Addressing a media conference here on Wednesday, he said that the landholdings of the Hathiramji Mutt were spread over the states of Andhra Pradesh (2,700 acres), Tamil Nadu (128 acres), Karnataka (4,713 sq. metres) and Maharashtra (296 acres), as could be seen from the records. While 520 acres of land was on lease, only 97 acres 24 cents of land was in the department's possession.
