Back Andhra Pradesh

HYDERABAD, SEPT. 22 . Taking note of the "disappointment" among the cadre over the delay in filling nominated posts, the Chief Minister, Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy, is planning to complete the exercise soon. The Congress had promised party leaders before the elections that it would compensate for their "sacrifices" at the earliest, but the delay in nominating chairpersons for corporations and other committees has left the cadre sulking. There has also been a delay in forming the committee that coordinates the functioning of the party and the Government due to the suspense over the imminent change in the PCC leadership. The party high command cannot constitute the core committee at this juncture, without making a decision on the fate of the PCC president, D. Srinivas. Mr. Srinivas, it is learnt, has already submitted his resignation letter to the high command and left the matter to them.
Caution the watchword
Dr. Reddy's advisors are treading with caution in completing the selection process of the chairpersons due to the political and social equations that are to be addressed. The first list may not reach double digits but is expected to contain some key postings. Loyalty and long standing service are bound to a play a key role in making it to the list. As for temple committees, the local MLA's choice may assume importance.
