Service Tax registration made easy

BANGALORE, SEPT. 22. Registering for the assessment of Service Tax, which has been extended to 72 categories, will not be troublesome if you are a resident of Bangalore.

Subash Chander, Commissioner of Service Tax, has announced an "extraordinarily friendly scheme" devised for those who had not yet registered themselves. Any person who wants to get registered can submit a form of declaration. He or she will be provided registration on the spot.

This scheme aims at registering all service providers on the basis of their declaration and those who had failed to register earlier and they will not be penalised. The scheme will be operational up to October 30. A special cell has been formed for this in the office of the Commissioner of Service Tax, S.P. Complex, Lalbagh Road, and at the office of the Assistant Commissioner of Central Excise, Service Tax Division, D Wing, 7th Floor, Kendriya Sadan, Koramangala, Bangalore - 560 034.
