Pathetic

Sir, — The plight of Gudiya, caught between two husbands, is indeed pathetic. Her desire to go with her first husband, Arif, seems to have stemmed out of ignorance and compulsion, given that she is carrying her second husband, Taufiq's child. Arif should voluntarily give her a divorce so that she can live peacefully.

Sir, — It was unfortunate that the media exploited the twists and turns in the life of a woman. The "resolving" of the case in a television studio, besides making a mockery of human sentiments devalued the significance of panchayats, which are supposed to provide solutions at the grassroots.
