`It was destiny'

CHENNAI, SEPT. 26. The night she died, Stephanie could have been busy as a hostess welcoming guests for a car launch a few metres away from the spot she was killed, but for a change in the requirements of an automobile major from South Korea. "She turned up for the event. But the company wanted faces with Southeast Asian features to go with the image of the car," reveals a friend of Stephanie.

The organisers had asked her to stay back for the party scheduled after the launch. But Stephanie decided otherwise. "Destiny," sighs the friend.
