Partly cloudy sky forecast

NEW DELHI SEPT. 28. The weatherman has forecast a partly cloudy sky in the Capital on Wednesday.

On Tuesday, the maximum temperature at Safdarjang was 36.9 degrees Celsius while Palam recorded a high of 37.2 degrees Celsius. The minimum temperatures at Safdarjang and Palam were 22.8 degrees and 23.4 degrees Celsius respectively.

Safdarjang and Palam recorded a maximum humidity of 83 per cent and 78 per cent respectively while the minimum humidity levels stood at 27 per cent and 30 per cent respectively.

Councillor's allegation

NEW DELHI SEPT. 28. An MCD councillor today alleged that he was beaten up by a Delhi police head constable at Green Park in South Delhi today. The police have registered a cross-case following allegations by the head constable that he was also beaten by the Councillor.

According to the Councillor, Hiren Tokas, the incident occurred around 5 p.m. when he was attacked by head constable Mahipal, who is posted with the Police Control Room. The police said both had sustained minor head injuries. Acting on the complaint from both sides, the Hauz Khas police have registered a case and are investigating.

Betting racket busted

NEW DELHI SEPT. 28. Four persons, who were allegedly running an illegal betting racket, were arrested by the Crime Branch from Kalyanpuri in East Delhi on Monday.

Acting on a tip-off that a betting racket was being run from a Kalyanpuri house, the Crime Branch raided the place and arrested Chander Shekhar, Atul Gupta, Khalik Ahmed and Arvind.

Saris, sweets for the poor

NEW DELHI SEPT. 28. The founder-chairman of the newly set up Som Datt Foundation, Som Datt, distributed saris, clothes and sweets to poor and underprivileged women in Madanpur Khadar Phase-III area of the Capital today.

The foundation has taken up this area for upliftment of the local community.

According to Dr. Som Datt, "the social activities under the aegis of Som Datt Foundation will be non-political, non-profitable and will not be confined to any religion, caste or creed. The foundation aims at finding viable solutions to improve the status of the destitute, particularly the underprivileged womenfolk."

Three end life

NEW DELHI SEPT. 28. Three suicide cases were reported from different parts of the Capital today.

Suresh (26), who was allegedly suffering from depression for the past several months, was today found hanging from the ceiling fan of his house at Nandnagri in North-East Delhi. The police said Suresh, a married person, was depressed as he did not have any children.

In another case, a 31-year-old woman, Ranjana, allegedly commit suicide by jumping into a well at Mehrauli in South Delhi early this morning. The police said she was ill for the past several months.

A 19-year-old boy, Sonu, was found hanging from the ceiling of the third floor of his house at Sangam Vihar in South Delhi today.

Four held

NEW DELHI SEPT. 28. Four young men, who allegedly murdered a 19-year-old man at Inderpuri in South Delhi on September 25 night, have been arrested.

The incident was a fallout of a fight between two families that took place over throwing of garbage two years ago.
