THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Minister for Water Resources, Mr Thiruvanchur Radhakrishnan, has said that all ongoing drinking water projects in respect of which the local bodies had deposited money with the Kerala Water Authority (KWA) would be commissioned within the next six months. Speaking to newspersons here after chairing a district-level review meeting of drinking water projects in the district, the Minister said the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC)-aided drinking water scheme was scheduled for commissioning in 2007. Talks would be held with the officials concerned to find out whether the project could be commissioned a year earlier. The Government would also try to include a scheme for dredging the Aruvikkara reservoir, which pumps water into the city, in the JBIC project, he said. The meeting also fixed deadlines for commissioning drinking water projects in various parts of the district.
