Satyanarayan elected president of milk union

BELLARY, SEPT. 29. G. Satyanarayan of Amareshwar Camp, Manvi taluk in Raichur district, was elected president of Raichur, Bellary, and Koppal Milk Producers' Cooperative Union.

He is the first person from outside Bellary district to hold the post. His tenure is for 30 months.

Syed Amir Ahmed, managing director of the union, conducted the election here on Wednesday.

Thimmareddy, member of the zilla panchayat, and Gurusiddaswamy, former president, were the other contenders for the post of president.

They withdrew their nominations following a communication that came reportedly from the Government that all the four nominated members should extend their support to Mr. Satyanarayan.

Speaking to presspersons, Mr. Satyanarayan said that he would strive to increase the number of milk producers' cooperative societies in all the three districts.

He sought the cooperation of all the members and farmers.

As for as increase in the milk procurement price, he said that the members of the societies had placed a demand and the issue would be looked into as soon as possible.

Mr. Satyanarayan thanked all the party leaders, directors, and others who extended their support and elected him.
