Back Rs 100-cr healthcare city to come up in Bangalore

NARAYANA Hrudalaya Institute of Cardiac Sciences (NHICS) has taken up a project to set up a Rs 100 crore "healthcare city" in Bangalore, Dr Devi Shetty, Chairman of NHICS, told newspersons on the sidelines of Health East, a day-long convention organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry and the Indian Health Care Federation here today.

Dr Shetty said that the project envisaged multi-speciality healthcare delivery infrastructure on a total area of 100 acres.

"Thirty acres of land has already been acquired from the Karnataka Industrial Development Board.

In the first phase of the project implementation, within a year from now two 500-bed hospitals - one for orthopaedics and the other for neurology - will be complete," he added.

NHICS has also proposed a 25-acre healthcare complex in city. Dr Shetty today met the West Bengal Chief Minister, Mr Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee and sought his Government's cooperation in acquiring the land.
