Records galore on day one

COIMBATORE, SEPT. 29. Anbu Vimala of Kongu ASC, Erode, K. Maguteswari of Bharathidasan ASC (Erode) and S. Ramya of PKR Arts (Gobichettipalayam) set new meet records on the inaugural day of the 23rd Bharathiar University inter-collegiate athletic meet at the Nehru Stadium here on Wednesday.

Men: 100m: C. Dilip Kumar (Dr. NGP Arts and Science) 11.1s; 1,500m: E. Samson (GAC, Ooty) 4:28:39s; 20-km walk: V. Rajesh (Bharathidasan CAS) 2:14:48s; Half marathon: P. Bharathiraja (Cheran Arts) 1:14:44s;

High jump: L. Saravanan (SRKV Maruthi) 1.78m; Hammer throw: A. Arun (Sree Jayendra Saraswathi) 33.61m.
