New Delhi , Sept. 30 THE National Association of Software and Services Association (Nasscom) and Information Technology Association of America (ITAA) would organise India-US Information Security Summit in the Capital on October 12-13 to explore possible joint programmes and initiatives to strengthen information security and establish global standards for secure sourcing. Mr Kapil Sibal, Minister of Science and Technology, and Mr Ken Juster, Under Secretary, US Department of Commerce, would deliver the keynote address at the summit which is titled `India and the US: Protecting the Critical Information Infrastructure Alliance'. Commenting on the upcoming summit, Mr Kiran Karnik, President, Nasscom, said, "The information security summit through panel discussions, case studies and keynote addresses will create a roadmap towards a risk-free environment, conducive for business transactions. The summit is a step further in strengthening the US-India high tech partnership." Citing recent surveys which have indicated that information security budgets as a percentage of overall IT spending are currently about 11 per cent globally, he said, this indicates growing global concern about information security. "Indian IT companies have established an enviable track-record with regard to security. This summit is an opportunity to share those best practices and to take them further, so that Indian service providers establish the same high credibility for security that they have for quality," Mr Karnik said in a statement.
