Gopalakrishna Adiga remembered

BANGALORE, OCT. 3. Surana College hosted a cultural and literary programme on noted Kannada poet, Gopalakrishna Adiga, on Friday and Saturday.

Padma Shekhar spoke on "Adiga's literature and contemporary Kannada culture" and Raghavendra Patil delivered a lecture on "The perspective of Navya in the Western literature and Adiga's innovativeness."

Sumateendra Nadig said Adiga's writings reflected humanity.

He said in his interaction with Adiga he realised a new dimension to his own works only after arguments. B.V. Kedilaya spoke on "Adiga's views on the texture of Literature and its icon."

"Adiga as the editor of Saakshi magazine" was the topic of a lecture by Jayantha Kaikini.

He expressed dismay that such an excellent publication no longer existed. Saakshi was a platform for many new faces to express themselves, he said.

G.H. Nayak said the trinity of Kuvempu, Shivaram Karanth and Gopalakrishna Adiga, not only met the challenges of the last century, but also carved a niche for themselves in the field of Kannada literature.
