THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Kerala Postal Circle has launched the `SPOTS' free pick-up services in Thiruvananthapuram City, first time in the country.

Announcing this, an official spokesman said here that the service had been undertaken as a pilot project. It would provide free pick-up service from customer premises for all sorts of mail items. Customers just need to place a call on 3139150 during working hours, and the postman will present himself at the doorsteps to collect mail items.

The service was being launched to commemorate the completion of 150 years of postal services in the country. The Chief Secretary, Mr Babu Jacob, presided over the formal launch function.
