Back Bangalore coffee science meet to discuss advances Our Bureau
Bangalore , Oct. 7 THE Coffee Board is organising the 20th International Conference on Coffee Science (ASIC-2004) in Bangalore during October 11-15. Over 200 delegates from 50 different countries, mainly comprising scientists, academicians, policy makers and industry representatives, are expected to participate in the event. Considering the current crisis in the coffee sector, this conference is of significance as it provides a common platform for interaction between coffee agronomists, chemists, food technologists and roasters among others to take stock of the recent advances in coffee science and possible solutions to the crisis. Also, the conference provides an opportunity to showcase the strengths of the coffee industry such as integrated cultivation methods, diversification and processing and quality among the world coffee community, said a Coffee Board release. The five-day conference has six major sessions dealing with coffee and health, coffee chemistry, processing, moisture management for mould prevention, plant improvement, biotechnology and coffee agronomy.
