Hyderabad , Oct. 10

THE opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP) in Andhra Pradesh has threatened to launch an agitation if the State Government did not withdraw its order pertaining to the increase of minimum draw down level (MDDL) of Srisailam Reservoir from 834 feet to 854 feet.

Addressing a press conference here on Sunday, TDP leaders and former Ministers, Dr K. Sivaprasada Rao and Mr T. Nageshwara Rao, said that the increase in MDDL would benefit the farmers of Cuddapah district at the cost of the farmers of Nalgonda, Khammam, Krishna, Guntur and Prakasam districts as it would result in a shortage of water supply for irrigation under the ayacut of Nagarjunasagar Project.

They alleged that MDDL was raised at the instance of the State Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, only to benefit the farmers of Cuddapah district, the home district of Dr Reddy.
