Back Chamber concern over road blockades

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Chamber of Commerce, Thiruvananthapuram, has expressed concern over the frequent violation of a High Court directive banning sit-ins and other forms of demonstrations along arterial roads.

In a statement, the chamber demanded that the State Government intervene at the earliest to stop these shows of protest that have been causing hardship to the public and business establishments.

The chamber added that the State Government should learn from the example set by West Bengal, which has banned strikes and demonstrations within the perimeter of the Secretariat under IPC Section 144.
