NEW DELHI, OCT. 13. After a sluggish growth in the initial months of the current fiscal year, indirect tax collections have picked up in September to record an increase of 25 per cent. The data made available by the Union Finance Ministry show that service tax collections during April-September this year amounted to Rs. 4,799 crores as compared to Rs. 2,814 crores in the same months of the previous year. Customs duty collections stood at Rs. 25,216 crores against Rs. 23,167 crores, an increase of 8.84 per cent. Excise duty collections were up 10.11 per cent at Rs. 44,494 crores against Rs. 40,409 crores.
