RESIL Chemicals has made its foray into the car care market with the launch of Vista car grooming products.

The Joint Managing Director of Resil Chemicals, Mr M.S. Vijayan, told a news conference on Thursday that the domestic car care industry has a market potential of around Rs 160 crore.

"We will be one of the few organised players in the sector and we hope to capture a major share of the market," he said.

Mr Vijayan said with the auto industry growing at 13 per cent during the last three years, Resil plans to capture a significant share of the market. It expects to post revenues of around Rs 25 crore in the next three years.

Mr Ganesh Srinivasan, Business head of Vista Carcare, said that the car care industry in the country was highly fragmented and there were very few organised players.

Vista intends to sell directly to the customers and through shopping malls, apart from selling them at petrol stations. He said a customer could send an SMS or call a toll free number to get the products delivered at his home. Experts will also assist the customers in educating them on how to use the products. Vista's products range from car shampoo to sealants and fog-demisters.

In the next phase, Vista plans to open car spas which will enable car owners to get their vehicles `groomed' at a single place on a regular basis.

Mr Vijayan said: "Through this we aim to capture a significant share of the untapped and highly potential car care market."

The Rs 45-crore Resil Chemicals provides speciality chemical solutions for the textile industry.
