Back Loans for rainwater harvesting in Kerala

Our Bureau

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The State Government has asked co-operative societies to provide loans for rainwater harvesting schemes and for digging of wells under the 100 days' intensive programme implementation plan.

An official quoted the Registrar of Co-operative Societies on Wednesday as directing the societies to fix a ceiling and extend loans from their own funds or through co-operative institutions in the upper tier to members.

These loans should be sanctioned on the basis of plans and estimates prepared by authorised agencies. The Registrar of Co-operatives also asked the societies to accord maximum publicity to the matter and inform those interested, including members.
