Back Emgee Greens: A breath of fresh air in crowded Mumbai

MUMBAIKARS tired of living in matchbox-sized flats in apartment complexes in a city that is groaning under the weight of an over-burdened infrastructure and gasping for fresh air can look forward to better times with a Mumbai-based real estate company now working on a residential project that promises to be an eco-friendly solution for both the city and the residents.

Situated in Wadala, the sprawling apartment complex set on 1,20,000 sq. ft will provide all the comforts of modern-day living like gymnasium, club house, landscaped gardens plus what the company, Emgee Developers, term as "must-have features" for residential complexes of the future.

On offer for the 160 flat owners of Emgee Greens are features that promise to make life easier for them and for the civic infrastructure.

For instance, the company has budgeted for the problem of water shortage that is looming large over the city by arranging for rainwater harvesting, which will provide an estimated 10,000 litres of water every day and also recharge the groundwater and existing borewells to provide for continuous water supply during the year.

The complex has also made arrangements for a water recycling system that will save nearly 40,000 litres of municipal supply daily and provide free supply of water for flushing, gardening and car washing.

The first phase of the complex will be complete by January 2005, said Mr Mudhit Gupta, Chairman, Emgee Developers, adding that the company was already working on similar projects in the nearby Sewri, Dadar, Prabhadevi and Matunga areas.
