Back ELCIA protest plan called off Our Bureau
BANGALORE: The Electronics City Industries' Association (ELCIA) in Bangalore has called off the protest planned on Hosur Road on Friday, following an assurance received from the Karnataka Government. In a letter to the association, the Government has said that the Chief Minister, Mr Dharam Singh, would be calling a high level meeting on October 18 to take a decision inter alia on decongesting the traffic on Hosur Road. ELCIA had decided to protest against the traffic conditions on Hosur Road and the lack of adequate response from the Govt to tackle the condition. The President of ELCIA, Mr H. Prakash Rao, said, "We are hoping the CM would take immediate measures, both short-term and medium-term, to improve the traffic conditions on Hosur road. We hope that the Govt of Karnataka would take necessary steps in this regard. Electronics City is home to 100 industries employing 45,000 employees with potential software exports of $2 billion this year."
