Back Professional institutes Bills this session

THE three Bills to amend the legislations governing the functioning of the three professional institutes — Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) and the Institute of Cost and Works Accountants of India (ICWAI) — are likely to be taken up for passage in Parliament in the ensuing session.

The Union Cabinet on Wednesday gave its nod for further pursuing of the Bills in Parliament following constitution of new Lok Sabha.

The Union Finance Minister, Mr P. Chidambaram, told reporters here today that the proposed amendments pertained to disciplinary action and appeals.

The three Bills were introduced by the National Democratic Alliance regime in the Rajya Sabha last year.
