Back Spectramind 'tops' in BPO headcount

WITH a headcount of 13,330 at the end of the second quarter, Wipro Spectramind has emerged as the single largest BPO services provider in the country, according to the Chairman and Managing Director, Mr Raman Roy.

The BPO outfit, which saw a sequential growth of 20 per cent during the second quarter, added 2,264 members to its rolls.

"It was a great quarter and we see a lot of traction with existing customers," Mr Roy said, adding that the company signed up three new clients during the quarter.

WiproSpectramind derives 86 per cent of its revenues from voice-based offerings and plans to grow its non-voice business. "We continue to develop offerings for the non-voice space, where we have eight customers," he said.

Commenting on the outlook, Mr Roy said: "We expect the growth trend to continue going forward."

The anti-outsourcing rhetoric ahead of the US Presidential polls is on the decline, Mr Roy said. "We do not see any significant impact on business. Customers have started revaluating their remote outsourcing options."

Meanwhile, Wipro said it has not faced any discomfort due to the H-1 visa cap."We hope there will be some change in visa policy," Mr Badiga told analysts in a conference call.
