Cash, necklace

stolen from car

A gold necklace worth Rs. 17,500 and Rs. 1 lakh in cash were stolen from the van of an employee of Tirumala Music Centre (TMC) parked near the company showroom in Abids on Thursday.

B. Shiva Kumar, manager of TMC projects, went to the centre's showroom at 8.40 p.m. after parking his vehicle. He returned 30 minutes later only to find the leather bag containing money and necklace missing, according to the police.

`Forged' visa:

one held

Immigration authorities at the Begumpet airport took into custody a person, A. Ravi (30), who flew in from Sharjah, on the charge of travelling with forged passport and visa documents on Thursday. Ravi of Vachnur village in Karimnagar district maintained that an agent who helped secure a job there took his documents. As the agent did not return his documents, he secured travel documents in the name of K. Chinna Pochaiah of Nizamabad district.

Girl ends life

A 16-year-old girl, P. Jyothi, committed suicide by setting herself ablaze on Thursday at Habeebnagar.

According to her father, P. Vemanna, she was mentally challenged and had been undergoing treatment.

Cheating case

A case has been registered against a housing society branch at Erragadda on the charge of failing to allot a plot to a member despite receiving Rs. 2.11 lakh in cash from the latter. A resident of Madhuranagar, Y. Homesh, lodged a complaint that the firm assured him of a plot at its Sai Bhavani venture in Attapur on payment of cash. However, the company had failed to do so even after receiving the amount, according to the Sanjeevareddynagar police.

Charge against

A case has been booked against a driver-cum-salesman of LG Care products shop, T. Govind, on charge of cheating the firm to the tune of Rs. 1 lakh with fabricated bills, according to the Begumpet police.

Chain-snatching

Gold chains were snatched away from two women at different places in Banjara Hills on Thursday when they came out for morning walk.

According to the police, a housewife, K. Suprabha (52), was passing by Cinema Ghar near KBR Park when three motorcycle-borne miscreants followed her. After stopping the bike in a corner, two of them lunged at her, snatched her chain and sped away.

In another case, a youth snatched away the chain of K. Satyavathi (64) on the road No. 1.
