Hyderabad , Oct. 17

THE Lok Satta, a non-governmental organisation, has decided to launch `Post Card to Prime Minister' from October 25 to November 10 to bring pressure on the Government to bring out the Right to Information Act.

In a resolution passed at the general body meeting, the Lok Satta asked intellectuals, media, prominent citizens and other democratic organisations to bring pressure on the Government to make an Act in Parliament in this regard.

In a bid to enlist support from the people, the organisation decided to take up the post card campaign.

In another resolution, it asked the State Government to set up local courts to provide quick legal solutions to the people.

The NGO, which is advocating powers to local bodies and campaigning against corruption, pointed out that people were facing immense hardships due to the inordinate delays in the justice delivery system in the country.

In a set of resolutions passed at the general body meeting held here on Sunday, Lok Satta mounting pending cases and severe delays weakened the legal system. The Lok Satta, which is headed by its National Coordinator, Mr Jayaprakash Narayan, regretted that it was more than one year since it submitted a draft bill to the Government that ensured speedy legal delivery system.

In another resolution, the organisation reiterated its demand for direct election to the seat of Chief Minister. "We strongly feel that there is no other go but to go for direction election in States," it said.

People who spent crores of rupees expected to get back their money when they got elected.

Calling for radical electoral reforms, Lok Satta felt that the present system had led the democratic system into a crisis, bringing people with criminal records into politics.
