Chain snatchers strike at three places

HYDERABAD, OCT. 17. Chain snatchers struck at three places in the city on Saturday relieving three women of their gold chains.

G. Jayakumari (55) was walking on the road near Sriramnagar when two persons came on foot from behind, pulled her chain and ran away, the S.R. Nagar police said.

She is a resident of Brindavan Archade in Rajivnagar.

Two motorcycle-borne assailants snatched away a gold chain weighing 1.5 tolas from D. Nagamani (24), while she was out on an evening walk.

A resident of Gunfoundry, the victim was passing by Ritz Hotel when the snatchers intercepted her and asked for the route to Birla temple.

Even as she was answering their query, the pillion rider snatched her chain and the duo rode off.

Nagamani works as ticket collector with the Railways, the Saifabad police said.

A resident of P&T colony in Chikkadpally, Shekhar Rao (55), lodged a complaint with local police stating that two motorcycle-borne youngsters snatched his wife's gold chain.

The elderly couple were walking on the road when the culprits came from behind and caught hold of his wife's chain.

When Rao resisted, the assailants slapped him and sped away with the chain.
