Accident impact throws youngster down from flyover

HYDERABAD, OCT. 17. Twenty-two-year-old Nitin could not live to play `dandia' with his friends and relatives. He was returning home when an oncoming Scorpio crushed his motorcycle throwing him down the CTO flyover at Paradise, nearly 30 feet high from ground, on Saturday night.

Head and almost every major bone broken, Nitin died on the spot leaving members of his family and neighbours in Bharani Complex, who were eagerly awaiting his arrival for participating in Navratri dance, shell-shocked.

Owner of a plastic shop at General Bazar, Nitin closed his shop around 9.15 p.m. and was passing over the flyover. The four-wheeler coming from Anand Theatre side hit his vehicle. The accident impact threw him down. He was not wearing a helmet. A shop worker, Modh Shafi, who followed Nitin on a Scooty, fainted on seeing his master dead.

Driver accused

The owner of the four-wheeler, Srinivas, was driving the vehicle with his family members, including women and children, travelling along with him. "The driver must be in an intoxicated condition. We have seen some beer bottles inside the four-wheeler," said one of the victim's relatives.

The Ramgopalpet Inspector, Pujari Krishnamoorthy, said the accused driver tried to overtake a lorry. "Srinivas was in high speed and went to extreme right leaving no chance for Nitin to escape,"

he explained.

The impact of the collision was so strong that the bike was reduced to a twisted metal and front tyre of the four-wheeler also came off.

The Police Commissioner, R.P. Singh, and the Additional Commissioner, Traffic, Tejdeep Kaur Menon, visited the spot. Srinivas had been arrested.
