`Rs. 37 cr. for defunct LI schemes'

ANANTAPUR, NOV. 12. The Minister for Lift Irrigation, M. Mareppa, has said the State Government is keen on reviving defunct lift irrigation (LI) schemes and an amount of Rs. 37 crores has been earmarked for the purpose. Speaking at a review meeting of departments under his Ministry here on Thursday, Mr. Mareppa said out of 1,303 LI schemes only 573 were functioning. Some LI schemes stopped functioning due to lack of power supply and the Transco was urged to restore supply to such schemes.
