BANGALORE, NOV. 12. The South India Cell for Human Rights Education and Monitoring (SICHREM) will organise an art Expo in association with artistes and the ITC Windsor Sheraton Hotels and Towers from November 17 to 23. The expo is a fundraiser which is also expected to create awareness about the work of SICHREM, whose motto is "To make human rights a household concept." Proceeds from the expo will be used to support the victims of human rights violations and to campaign for the restoration of justice in South India. SICHREM is involved in conducting training programmes on human rights for students, university teachers, young lawyers, police, self-help groups and other non-governmental organisations. It also holds free legal clinics in slums every month. Twenty-three renowned artistes from Bangalore will display their work at the expo, which will be inaugurated by Ashwini Nachappa, former athlete.
