Goan dreams shattered, TN gains two points

BANGALORE, NOV. 21. Goa's bid for an outright win over Tamil Nadu fell short by two runs as the game in the South Zone Vijay Merchant Trophy (u-17) cricket tournament ended in a draw here on Sunday. However, Tamil Nadu collected two points by virtue of its first innings lead.

The scores: Tamil Nadu 257 and 193 for two decl. (Gopinath 100 n.o.) drew with Goa 159 (Ninad Pawaskar 76 n.o., Yomahesh four for 48) and 290 for nine (Ilyas Naroo 47, Aniket Desai 40, Rohan Belekar 42, Saurabh Bandekar 79, M. Rangarajan four for 75).

Karnataka 332 and 108 for one decl. (Vinodh 49, Ganesh Satish 55) drew with Hyderabad 219 (Vishal Sharma 63) and 48 for no loss. — Our Special Correspondent
