HYDERABAD, NOV. 24. The Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission has announced that the Group I Service main exam will be held on January 19, 2005 without any change in the schedule. Dismissing reports of postponement as baseless, the Commission's senior member, A. Chandra Sekhar, told a press conference here on Wednesday that all arrangements had been made for the conduct of the examination in Hyderabad, Warangal, Tirupati, Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada for 28,651 candidates selected for the main exam after prelims in two phases under the first and second notifications. Of them, 22,651 were selected under the first notification and 6,000 under the second. Mr Chandra Sekhar said the APPSC would appoint those selected under Group II -1999 as directed by the Andhra Pradesh Administrative Tribunal. A further one-month delay was likely because of the Supreme Court judgment quashing the SC categorisation. Arrangements were also made for the conduct of written test for assistant executive engineers on December 11 and 12 for which 16,200 applications were received. The notification for filling the forest range officer post would be issued soon.
