Coimbatore , Dec. 6

THE facilities at the technology business incubator at the Kongu Engineering College (TBI-KEC) at Perundurai in Erode District has caught the attention of product developers, particularly those who could ill-afford huge investment on infrastructure and equipment.

A couple of products such as the hand-held computing device for NGOs and engine control system for electric scooter (developed at TBI-KEC) have already been soft-launched.

While these were for the domestic market, I-Tech Solutions has developed the electronic control panel for industrial floor cleaning equipment for the export market. This custom-built product is to be formally launched on December 8.

Mr Kumar of I-Tech Solutions and the brain behind this product told Business Line that five samples of prototype panels were developed of which two were sent to Hako, Germany, for testing and approval.

"It has been cleared. The product is ready for commercialisation. We are planning to make 100 panels every month, starting from January 2005."

I-Tech Solutions has been in the business of making electronic control panels and has serviced clients like Elgi. Commenting on the market size, Mr Kumar said that this was really huge. "Control panels are made as per customer specifications. The said industrial floor cleaning equipment is battery driven. It is fitted with one brush for scrubbing, vacuum motor for drying and the drive motor for moving the machine. Water is dispensed through a flow control valve. The electronic circuits are developed to control the above said motors and valves in a phased sequential manner."

I-Tech has taken 3 months to develop the product. The industrial floor cleaning machine is used to scrub and clean hard dirt in large area such as hospitals and supermarkets.
