By Our Staff Reporter

KANCHEEPURAM, DEC. 18. The special police team investigating the Sankararaman murder case could not interrogate Raghu, brother of junior Kanchi Sankaracharya Sri Vijayendra Saraswathi, today, as it was told that he had undergone an appendicitis operation two days ago.

Enquiries show that when the team went to the Sankara Mutt in the afternoon to serve summons on Mr. Raghu, asking him to appear before it at 7 p.m., it was told that he was not in the Mutt.

Counsel for the mutt, Shanmugam, told reporters that Mr. Raghu suffered from gastric and sinus problems and had been taking treatment since June. On December 16, he had a severe stomach pain and was rushed to a hospital at Pammal near Chennai. He was discharged this morning and had gone to his father's house at Valasarawalkam on the outskirts of Chennai, Mr. Shanmugam said.
