BANGALORE, DEC. 19. An ugly incident was witnessed during the final leg of the MRF Motocross at the Palace grounds here on Sunday. Even as the Class VIII Intermediate Group A was in progress, members of the two main teams in the championship, Team Yamaha and Team TVS, traded blows. One of the riders of Team TVS was assaulted in full view of the public. According to information pieced together after the situation was brought under control, members of the Yamaha team were upset after an `incident' in one of the earlier races. Tempers ran high and the flashpoint occurred during the fourth race of the day. Prior to that race mechanics of the two teams had been involved in a scrap outside the competition area. The situation worsened and the rider from TVS, who Team Yamaha perceived to be involved in the fouling in the earlier race, was surrounded by members of the Yamaha team. Blows were rained upon him and soon it was a free for all with members of both teams either involved in the fighting or making an effort to prevent the matters getting out of hand. All this happened on the main track where the races were being conducted. According to an official of the FMSCI, a protest of three parts had been registered. While two parts were adjudicated and resolved the third part is yet to be acted upon as the guilty party is yet to be identified. Action including endorsement of the competitors' licences is being contemplated among other possible penalties. Our Special Correspondent
