YBC, Alva's bag team titles

MANGALORE, DEC. 19. Y.B.C., Puttur and Alva's College, Moodbidri bagged the men's and women's team titles respectively at the two-day State level weightlifting championships organised by Raymonds Gym here.

Sandeep G. Maindan of SAI Bangalore was declared the best weightlifter in the men's category while Premeshwari, also of SAI, took the honours on the distaff side.

The results: Women: 48-kg: 1. Sharada Siddi (KSP), 2. Prathiba Shetty (DCC, Mangalore), 3. Sujatha (Alvas); 53-kg: Sudha Prabhu (KSP), 2. Prabhavathi (Alvas), 3. Jayalakshmi (Dhavala College, (Moodbidri); 58-kg: 1. Ragini Devi (SAI), 2. Shylaja (DCC), 3. Prameela Asha Fernandes (St. Mary's); 63-kg: 1. Premeshwari (SAI), 2. Thejeshwari Shetty and 3. Smitha Patel (both Vivekananda, Bangalore); 69-kg: 1. C.H. Pramitha Devi (SAI), 2. Vijaya Kumar (Alvas) 3. Preethi (St. Mary's); 75-kg: 1. K. Roomi Devi (SAI), 2. Divya Alva (Alvas), 3. T.V. Veena (DCC).

Men's: 56-kg: 1. Amul Raj (Panchalingeshwara Gym, Kavu, Puttur), 2. Sangamesh (Municipal Gym, Davangere), 3. Harish C. (Victory Gym); 62-kg: 1. Rajendra Prasad (YBC), 2. G. Mahesh (Tumkur Gym), 3.
