BANGALORE, DEC. 19. Cakes and sweets are on display in the market with only a few days left for Christmas.

However, the "Icing on the cake" was added only when the 32nd Annual Cake and Consumer Exhibition, organised by Niligiri's, was inaugurated by the scion of the Mysore Royal Family, Srikantadatta Wadiyar on St. Joseph's Boys' High School Grounds on Sunday.

The centrepiece of the show was a 19-foot tall, 60-foot long and 20-foot wide sugar model of the Mysore Palace.

The exhibition will be showcasing 15 different cake models out of which 10 are on raffle.

"The ticket price for each item will be Rs.15 and 999 tickets will be allotted per item.

The items on raffle include models of Grandpa's clock, Santa's sledge, Columbia space shuttle and others," said C. Ramachandrappa, Manager of the mechanised bakery and architect of the palace model.

The exhibition will display consumer products such as crockery items along with the usual food items. Nilgiri's is celebrating the 100th anniversary.

Mr. Wadiyar said that his active participation in the Bangalore Habba was an indication of his upcoming activities as a tourism ambassador with the State Government. To start with, Bangalore Palace as well as the silk showroom at the palace will soon be thrown open to the general public from 10.30 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. To support any cultural campaign, mixing of old and new traditions should be allowed and accepted, he said.
