Back IGNOU gets nod for FM radio Our Correspondent
MADURAI: The Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has given licence to the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) to start and run `Gyan Vani' FM radio station in Madurai for broadcasting educational programmes within a range of 70 km. Sources said that after a discussion with the officials of the All-India Radio Station here, the FM broadcast would be launched by the end of February. According to Mr M. Shanmugam, Deputy Director of the local IGNOU sub-regional centre, leading institutions such as Madurai Kamaraj University would be approached for partnering the effort.
