Seven arrested

ANANTAPUR, DEC. 22. The Putlur police on Wednesday arrested seven persons accused in felling of 625 sweetlime plants belonging to one Ramachandra Reddy at Maddipalli village in Putlur mandal on December 7. Four hunting sickles were also seized from their possession.

The Tadipatri Rural CI, J. Mallikarjuna Varma, told reporters that a police team, led by Putlur SI, K.M. Prasad, made the arrests and booked cases under Section 27 of the Arms Act. The arrested persons were: Maheswar Reddy, Pulla Reddy, Nageswar Reddy, Ramachandra Reddy, Venkatasiva Reddy, Venkateswar Reddy and Suryanarayana. Another accused, Nageswar Reddy, was till at large.
