Consumer exhibition from today

BANGALORE, DEC. 24. Consumers who want to assert their rights can look forward to more than speeches this Consumer Rights Day.

On Saturday and Sunday, Grahak Shakti, the consumer rights organisation of the city, has organised a different kind of consumer exhibition at the Princess Academy on Palace Grounds. It will be inaugurated by the Minister for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, H.S. Mahadeva Prasad, and will have utility agencies and manufacturers explaining how they are meeting the expectations of consumers.

Last year, more than 28 organisations participated, and this year the participants include the Bureau of Indian Standards, Department of Consumer Affairs, Department of Legal Metrology, Regional Transport Offices, Department of Health and Family Welfare, Karnataka Renewable Energy Development Ltd., Bharat Petroleum, Hindustan Petroleum, BWSSB, BDA, BESCOM, KSRTC, Department of Posts and Telegraphs, Voluntary Health Association of Karnataka, and People for Ethical Treatment of Animals.
