Uma Bharti to break silence on Monday

AYODHYA, DEC. 25. A day after the revocation of her suspension from the Bharatiya Janata Party, the former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister, Uma Bharti, today refused to comment on the development saying she would break her silence on Monday.

In an informal chat with mediapersons, Ms. Bharti said she would comment on the matter after returning to Delhi.

She also hinted that she could meet top BJP leaders, including the party president, L.K. Advani, in the national capital.

Ms. Bharti claimed that the media had blown out of proportion her earlier statements that led to her suspension from the BJP.

Earlier in the day, she took a holy dip in the Sarayu river and visited the temples of Ram Lala, Hanumangadhi, Kanak Bhavan and Nageshwarnath and offered prayers.

Ms. Bharti, who is staying in the house of the former Uttar Pradesh BJP president, Vinay Katiyar, in the temple town, said yesterday that she was observing a Maun vrat (vow of silence) and hence would not comment on the revocation of her suspension.
