COIMBATORE: Employees of the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation Ltd, (Coimbatore), will be donating a day's salary amounting to Rs 41 lakh as their contribution to the relief fund for providing assistance to the victims of tsunami's fury in the State.

A meeting of the representatives of the employees' unions, presided over by the Managing Director of the Corporation Mr C. Rangasamy, here today took the decision to contribute a day's salary of 16,709 employees working in Coimbatore, the Nilgiris and Erode districts.

TEA's assistance: The knitwear industry in Tirupur has despatched a truck loaded with T-shirts to Nagapattinam to be distributed among the victims. According to a Tirupur Exporters' Association (TEA) source, 50,000 pieces of T-shirts worth about Rs 50 lakh were sent on Monday and the Association is hopeful of despatching more dress materials in the coming days.
